Me & Balanced Profitability Solutions:

How It All Came Together

My path to founding Balanced Profitability Solutions wasn’t a straight line—it was a winding journey shaped by family, curiosity, and a deep love for both numbers and helping people.

After graduating high school, the inn where I had been working as a sous chef closed, leaving me at a crossroads. My father, who owned a CPA firm, offered me a job. It was far from glamorous—the office manager at the time made sure I knew “my place” was in my office, which just happened to also be the room with the bathroom. The only time I had contact with the rest of the staff was during their breaks, lunch, or when the office manager was out.

And so, my journey in bookkeeping began. Back then, everything was done manually: check registers and disbursement sheets by hand, financial statements handwritten before I typed and formatted them in Word—on monochrome monitors and DOS-based computers. I quickly became the go-to for everything: filing, software installs, bookkeeping, tax prep, and eventually office management. After more than a decade, I stepped out on my own and launched my first business, Deb-it’s Inc. (a little accounting pun and spin on my name I couldn’t resist!).

One of my early clients was a nonprofit supporting low-income children, and their mission deeply inspired me. That led me to pursue a new calling in early childhood education. I became a paraeducator in autism programs, first in Vermont and then Virginia, earned my associate degree in Early Childhood Education, and worked multiple jobs—including cashiering at Food Lion—to support myself.

Eventually, bookkeeping pulled me back in. I worked for a local hardware store, then transitioned into a decade-long career in medical coding and billing. Numbers clearly had a way of finding me! Along the way, I wore many hats—cook and later administrator at the local Moose Lodge, and even a very short stint at Walmart (where I quickly learned that while I love customer service, standing on my feet for eight hours straight was not my calling).

Through every professional chapter, the rhythm of financial organization and helping others find clarity in their money kept calling me back. That calling ultimately led me to create Balanced Profitability Solutions—a blend of everything I love: practical bookkeeping, strategic financial planning, and meaningful support for individuals, families, and small businesses.

As a licensed Life & Health agent, I can also provide services that go beyond the books—empowering people to feel confident about their financial futures.

This isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am. My mission is to empower others with three core philosophies of money and wealth creation.
